Every Hospitality Venue Type

We've Worked in
Every Type of Venue

From boutique hotels to large RSLs, from corner pubs to multi-level nightclubs — emergency lighting compliance requirements are the same, but every venue has its own challenges. We know them all.

🏨

Hotels & Accommodation

Hotels carry significant AFSS obligations across guest rooms, corridors, stairwells, car parks, and function spaces. A single failed emergency light in a guest corridor can hold up your entire annual certification. We conduct thorough floor-by-floor inspections and repair faults fast.

  • Guest room and corridor emergency lighting
  • Stairwell and fire egress lighting
  • Car park emergency and exit lighting
  • Function room and ballroom compliance
  • RAPIX Emergency system management
🎖️

RSLs & Leagues Clubs

RSLs and leagues clubs are large, complex venues with gaming floors, function rooms, bars, restaurants, and multi-level car parks. Emergency lighting compliance is critical — not just for your AFSS, but to protect your gaming licence and liquor licence. We understand the stakes.

  • Gaming floor emergency lighting
  • Multi-level car park compliance
  • Function room and auditorium lighting
  • Bar and restaurant area exit signs
  • Full AFSS documentation package
🍺

Pubs, Bars & Nightclubs

Pubs and bars often have challenging environments for emergency lighting — low ambient light, high foot traffic, and areas where emergency lights are easily damaged or obscured. We identify every fault and ensure your exit signs and emergency battens are visible and operational.

  • Bar area and cellar emergency lighting
  • Outdoor beer garden exit signs
  • Basement and mezzanine compliance
  • Emergency lighting after renovations
  • After-hours inspection available
🍽️

Restaurants & Cafes

Restaurants and cafes need compliant emergency lighting in dining areas, kitchens, cool rooms, and back-of-house spaces. A dead exit sign above the kitchen exit is a compliance failure — and a safety risk. We check every space, not just the front of house.

  • Dining room and kitchen exit signs
  • Cool room and storage area lighting
  • Back-of-house emergency compliance
  • Outdoor dining area exit lighting
  • Fast turnaround for busy venues
🎪

Function Centres & Event Venues

Function centres and event venues have large open spaces, multiple egress routes, and often complex emergency lighting networks. We ensure every exit route is illuminated and every emergency light passes the 90-minute discharge test required by AS2293.

  • Large hall and ballroom emergency lighting
  • Multiple egress route compliance
  • Outdoor and marquee area lighting
  • Emergency lighting for temporary events
  • OC support for new function venues
🏋️

Gyms, Spas & Recreation

Fitness centres, spas, and recreation facilities have unique emergency lighting challenges — wet areas, plant rooms, and spaces that operate early morning and late at night. We ensure your emergency lighting is compliant across all areas of your facility.

  • Wet area and pool emergency lighting
  • Plant room and equipment area compliance
  • Change room and amenity exit signs
  • Car park and outdoor area lighting
  • Annual AFSS support
Emergency Lighting Faults in Hospitality

Spitfire Dead?
Exit Sign Dim?
We Fix It Today.

Hospitality venues are tough environments for emergency lighting. High traffic, vibration from music systems, humidity in kitchens, and the simple passage of time all take their toll on spitfires, exit signs, and emergency battens.

We carry replacement parts for the most common emergency lighting products used in hospitality venues and can often repair faults on the same visit. Where a full LED upgrade is required — particularly for aging fluorescent emergency battens in car parks — we provide a competitive quote backed by our manufacturer relationships.

We also work with your existing electricians. If your regular sparky can't diagnose the fault or doesn't have the RAPIX software, call us — we'll work alongside them to get the job done.

  • Spitfire emergency lights failing 90-minute discharge test
  • Dead or dim exit signs — single-sided and double-sided
  • Emergency battens not holding charge
  • RAPIX Emergency system faults and network errors
  • Schneider emergency lighting system issues
  • Emergency lighting not triggering on mains failure
  • Exit signs obscured, damaged, or incorrectly positioned
  • Self-contained battery replacements for spitfires and battens
  • LED upgrades for aging fluorescent emergency fittings
  • Emergency lighting damaged during renovations or fitout
  • New emergency lighting for venue extensions or refurbishments
  • Full AFSS documentation and test records
⏰ Your Licence Is at Stake

AFSS Due?
Don't Risk Your Licence.

For hospitality venues, the consequences of non-compliant emergency lighting go beyond a council fine. Your liquor licence, gaming licence, and DA conditions may all reference your fire safety compliance. A failed AFSS can trigger a cascade of regulatory issues.

We work to your deadline. Whether your AFSS is due next week or next month, we mobilise fast, identify every fault, and provide the documentation your fire safety practitioner needs to certify your statement.

What We Provide for Your AFSS

  • AS2293 compliant 90-minute discharge test records
  • Fault identification and rectification report
  • Completion certificate for all repairs
  • Documentation in format required by your fire safety practitioner
  • Ongoing annual testing and maintenance program available

After-Hours Available

We understand hospitality venues can't always close for inspections. We offer early morning, late evening, and weekend attendance to minimise disruption to your operations.

Hospitality Venue FAQ

Common Questions from
Venue Operators

Do hotels and pubs need an AFSS for emergency lighting? +
Yes. Hotels, pubs, clubs, RSLs and restaurants are all classified as buildings with essential fire safety measures under NSW legislation. They are required to submit an Annual Fire Safety Statement (AFSS) to their local council each year, certifying that emergency lighting has been tested and is operational.
Can a failed exit sign or spitfire prevent us from trading? +
In serious cases, yes. If your emergency lighting is found to be non-compliant during a fire safety inspection, the council or fire brigade can issue orders requiring rectification. Persistent non-compliance can result in fines or orders affecting your ability to operate. We recommend addressing any known faults immediately.
Do you work after hours for hospitality venues? +
Yes. We understand that hospitality venues operate during business hours and may need emergency lighting work done outside trading times. We can arrange early morning, late evening, or weekend attendance to minimise disruption to your operations.
We have a RAPIX Emergency system — can you work on it? +
Yes. Sydney Automation Co. are RAPIX specialists. We can commission, fault-find, repair, and maintain RAPIX Emergency systems in hotels, clubs, RSLs and all hospitality venues. We carry the software and have the experience to resolve RAPIX faults that general electricians cannot.
Can you work alongside our existing electrician? +
Absolutely. We regularly work alongside venue electricians, providing specialist RAPIX and emergency lighting expertise while their team handles general electrical work. We can also bring our own licensed electricians if required.
How much does emergency lighting compliance cost for a hospitality venue? +
Cost depends on the size of your venue, the number of emergency lights, and the extent of any faults. We provide a free assessment and quote before any work begins. Call 0422 469 739 to discuss your venue and get an indication of cost.
